How Diwali is celebrated in Melbourne: a visitor's film from 2023
In 2023 a visitor brought a camera to Melbourne Diwali at Marvel Stadium. Watch the film, then come and celebrate with us on Saturday 31 October 2026.
Some of the most beautiful moments of Diwali in Melbourne are the ones nobody plans. A stranger who walks in curious and leaves smiling. A family trying their first plate of festival food. A visitor who picks up a camera because what they are seeing is too good to keep to themselves.
In November 2023, the creator behind the YouTube channel Let's Go was one of those visitors. They came to Melbourne Diwali at Marvel Stadium in Docklands, camera in hand, and made a film about how Diwali is celebrated in Australia.

Melbourne Diwali at Marvel Stadium, 2023
On Saturday 11 November 2023, Melbourne Diwali became the first community event ever staged at Marvel Stadium's newly redeveloped Town Square. This film is a window back into that celebration. You can read more of the festival's story on our About page.
The festival has come home to Marvel Stadium Square every year since, and up to 20,000 people attended across the day in 2025.
Why this film matters to us
Diwali is the festival of light, and light is meant to be shared. We can tell you what Melbourne Diwali feels like, but nothing says it quite like someone who arrived as a visitor and chose to share it with their own audience.
To Let's Go: thank you for coming, for filming, and for letting the world see our festival through your eyes.
Bloggers, vloggers and creators welcome
If this film makes you want to pick up your own camera, we would love to have you. Melbourne Diwali is built on welcome, and that includes everyone who wants to tell its story, whether in a blog post, a vlog, a reel or a photo essay.
