OUR VISION
Melbourne's Festival of Lights, built by locals
Every year, Victoria's Indian community brings Melbourne Diwali to life: dance schools, community organisations, student volunteers and family-run businesses. It is free, and it is open to every Melburnian.
Melbourne is a global city, and it deserves a Diwali of its own. It all comes together on festival day, Saturday 31 October.
Each year, Melbourne Diwali welcomes the season with the Launch: an invitation-only gathering with the community leaders, partners and performers who make the festival happen.
This year's Launch is on Friday 9 October, in Queen's Hall at Parliament House. The Launch page carries the invitation, and a record of each past Launch: who spoke, what was announced and who was in the room.
Melbourne Diwali at Marvel Stadium Square, on film
Diwali in Melbourne, through a visitor's lens
A visitor brought a camera to Melbourne Diwali at Marvel Stadium and made a film of what they saw: music, dance and street food, and a festival that welcomes everyone.
From Diwali decor and handmade crafts to silver jewellery and Vastu guidance, the first stallholders of 2026 are on the directory. Tap a name to see their stall.
Stallholders are independent businesses, and every listing, claim, product, service and offer shown here is their own. Melbourne Diwali does not endorse or verify them and is not responsible for them. Please make your own enquiries before you buy.
Partners are in the room at the Launch, with a place on the programme to speak.
Festival-day activations are co-created with each partner, so what you bring is built with us, not beside us. And it is a season, not a day, with a place for you from the Launch to festival day.
Does your workplace celebrate Diwali? Share this with whoever decides.
