In Melbourne, Dhanteras falls on Friday 6 November 2026, followed by Diwali on Sunday 8 November 2026. Melbourne Diwali 2026 takes place the week before, on Saturday 31 October.
That timing matters. The week before Dhanteras is when festival plans become real. Families decide what they will cook, where they will gather, who they will visit and what they may buy. The conversations that finish at a jeweller's counter often begin in that week.
